Sign up for classes in painting, photography,computer applications, writing, languages, cooking, auto repair, and much more. Seniors 55 and older receive a discounted registration rate.  Adult Ed includes estate planing and elder law courses.

Check out this new addition to local educational enrichment opportunities. ALRI offers college-level, non-credit courses to seniors over fifty. The organization is affiliated with George Mason University, Arlington Public Schools Career, Technical and Adult Education Programs, Arlington Parks and Recreation Senior Program, and with Elderhostel. Costs vary with the number of courses chosen.   

Institute for Learning in Retirement

Established in 1982, this is one of the first learning-in-retirement organizations.It is affiliated with American University. articipants are organized into study groupsand subject areas include: politics and government, music and art, science and technology, literature and drama. Classes are held in the daytime at Temple Baptist Church, 3850 Nebraska Avenue, NW in the District of Columbia.''

Programs are offered in cooperation with AARP and Elderhostel. They provide an "insider’s view of Washington, D.C." Topics include the democratic process, public policy, current events, etc.

You can take advantage of your leisure time and register for a class in fitness, dance, painting, pottery, ceramics, or jewelry-making. Seniors 55 and older receive a discounted registration rate.

National Council on Aging                                                                  Drug Discount Program Eligibility Information

Check online to see if you might be eligible to participate in a  public or private program that will allow you to save money on prescription drugs. This site is the result of a public/private partnership led by the National Council of Aging. You will be asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire and will then be informed of any money-saving program for which you might qualify.

Part of NIH, the National Institute on Aging leads the federal government effort on aging research. The site provides information and links to promot healthy aging.
