New members are required to read and agree to the NAHAC Code of Ethics.
NAHAC is a professional organization for healthcare advocacy whose mission is:
  • To promote the field of healthcare advocacy
  • To ensure consumer protection through development of professional standards and best practices in the field ocacy

Members have different types of experience and training which include medically trained healthcare advocates, advocates in non-profits, individuals who have learned “on the job” helping a friend or family member, researchers and educators in the field of healthcare advocacy, and advocates working in the fields of public policy and legislation. 

Each group brings a unique contribution to this growing field. NAHAC embraces a multiplicity of approaches, recognizing that, in the end, the public will have a wide choice of services and advocates and this diversity of approaches enhances the profession
